Whether it’s after school, or on a no-school day, the 2nd floor of the Children’s Museum of South Dakota is a great place to spark your imagination and make your great ideas come to life.

From preschool classes and after-school sessions to full-day camps, we offer a wide variety of ways to play, create, and discover. Start planning and register today.

School Break Camps

Do you have a no-school day? The following camps are for children ages 6-12. Camps are drop off and require registration. The cost is $65 each session unless otherwise noted. Members receive a 20% discount.


Morning Maker Studio

Friday, Feb. 14, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm 

The Maker Studio is a space, designed by children for children, that will inspire all makers. Experiences will foster creativity, curiosity, and self-expression through a variety of activities including robotics, circuitry, pottery, sculpture, and painting. Children will have the time and space to explore the diverse interests they bring with them. Every day is a new adventure.

Chemistry Camp

Monday, Feb. 17, 9 am to 5 pm

What can you brew up in the laboratory? Put on your thinking camps and safety goggles as we conduct our own experiments.

Mystery Camp

Friday, March 7, 9 am to 5 pm

Uncover secrets and become a detective at Mystery Camp! Campers will crack codes, hunt for clues, and solve a mystery while learning the art of creating mysteries themselves.

Exploring Botany Camp

Friday, April 18, 9 am to 5 pm – Ages 8-12

Explore the fascinating world of plants through a variety of hands-on activities. Learn about the bright side of photosynthesis, craft a plant cell model, build a terrarium, and more! It’s sure to be a wonderful “thyme” … get it?

Kindergarten Maker Camp

Current JK/K Students (Ages 5-7) // Drop Off // Registration Required // $33 ($26.40 for members)

Play along with us during the Brookings School District Kindergarten Screening days! We welcome any current enrolled Brookings School District JK and Kindergarten students (Ages 5-7)  to join us in our Maker Studio for a 1/2 day camp and explore a variety of activities and materials including robotics, circuitry, sculpture, and painting to name a few. Snack will be provided.

Playful Preschoolers

Fridays 8:30-11:30 am starting Sept. 6
Ages 3-5 // Drop Off Optional // Registration Required // $25 (members save 20%)

Playful Preschoolers classes offer an opportunity to connect with new friends, explore new interests, and build new skills. Classes are hands-on and child-led. These camps are designed to provide children with a chance to learn through play and inquiry. Play along! Snack provided. 


After School Maker Studio

Tuesday-Friday during the school year
3-5:30 pm

Does your child need a place to go after school? Or perhaps you are looking for a place to spark your child’s imagination? The After School Maker Studio is a flexible, come-and-go experience for children age 5 and up.
