Café Coteau, located in the Museum’s iconic atrium, offers an array of delicious breakfast and lunch choices that will satisfy both adults and children.
The restaurant is open to the public and does not require admission. With a focus on local and fresh food, it is a unique offering in Brookings, South Dakota, where both locals and travelers can feel welcome under the prairie sky! Your purchase helps support the mission of the Children’s Museum of South Dakota.
Fresh local food
Our café focuses on preparing fresh food featuring items such as omelettes, pastas, sandwiches, and salads. In the summer months, the café grows its own vegetables and herbs on the back patio and locally sources vegetables from the local farmers market that takes place near the Museum each Saturday.
Gluten-free and healthy options
We pride ourselves on offering healthy menu items and also feature a variety of gluten-free and vegetarian options. Café Coteau also makes gluten-free baked goods in-house, including muffins, cookies, caramel rolls, quick bread, and cupcakes. See what’s new each day in the café or call ahead for custom orders: (605) 692-6700, ext. 1.
Café Coteau proudly serves SDSU ice cream.
Kool Beans Coffee and SDSU ice cream
Stop by for a cup of locally-roasted Kool Beans Coffee. Or get a cone or dish of Brookings favorite South Dakota State University ice cream. Mix the two together for our famous frozen coffee drink, a café glacé, and you will have plenty of energy for a full day of play!
