Optimist Clubs are dedicated to “Bringing Out the Best in Kids” and do their part through community service programs. The local Optimist Club of Brookings did just that by donating $10,000 to the Children’s Museum of South Dakota, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. “This donation was made possible by the money we raised through various fundraising projects, such as the Avenue of Flags and the Bobcat Concession”, said Sharon Klein, president of the Optimist Club of Brookings. “We chose to give to the Children’s Museum because we saw it as an opportunity to positively impact children in Brookings and all who visit the museum year-round.” The donation was used to purchase the giant glow stick wall located in the Sensations exhibit at the museum.
