Reports to: Guest Experience Manager
Job Summary:
In alignment with the Museum’s mission, vision, and values, Play Guides enhance the guest experience at CMSD. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy, well-organized, creative individual that enjoys working in a playful, team-oriented environment.
Essential Functions:
- Going out of your way to create a meaningful guest experience for all guests
- Actively engaging guests by playing with them in the exhibits and answering questions
- Monitoring exhibits for safety and cleanliness, including picking up loose parts
- Performing exhibit opening/closing procedures
- Helping maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming museum environment by performing regular cleaning duties
- Supporting and guiding volunteers on the museum floor
- Assisting at the Welcome Desk as needed
- Assisting guests and maintaining a clean, engaging environment at Café Coteau as needed
- Assisting Play Central Toys & Books with restocking and demonstrations
- Assisting with museum events and outreach activities as needed
- Supporting educational programming activities and museum marketing efforts as needed
- Positively and accurately representing the mission and values of CMSD both inside and outside the museum
- Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Post-secondary education preferred
- Able to stand, bend, climb, and/or walk for a prolonged period of time
- Commitment to excellent customer service and teamwork
- High comfort level interacting with children and adults in a fast-paced, high traffic, public environment
- Recognizes that children naturally learn through play
- Views children as capable and competent
- Responds to guests needs/ emergency situations in a calm and comforting manner
- Communicates effectively and interacts genuinely with families of all backgrounds and abilities
- Must be reliable and flexible
- Strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of CMSD
