Education Manager Lauren Dietz honored for outstanding spirit of hospitality, warmth, and genuine kindness.
Lauren Dietz, education manager at the Children’s Museum of South Dakota, was recognized by Gov. Larry Rhoden and Travel South Dakota with the Ruth Ziolkowski Outstanding Hospitality and Customer Service Award at the annual South Dakota Tourism Conference in Pierre.
Lauren has been a Museum educator for nearly 10 years. During the award presentation, South Dakota Secretary of Tourism Jim Hagen shared remarks from Museum guests about how she brings a calm, joyful presence to every interaction. He also quoted another parent who shared how much she appreciated Lauren and her team for keeping camp and class participants engaged and excited about learning — making the Museum one of their favorite places.
In her role at the Museum, Lauren supports camps, classes, birthday parties, and enhances experiences in all the exhibits.
“Lauren exudes passion and energy in all interactions with our guests,” said Executive Director Kate Treiber. “Her open, caring, and creative spirit embodies our mission to spark imagination through play.”

During her speech, Lauren expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work in such a wonderful space.
“It is truly an honor. There’s nothing like supporting children who are our future, and there’s no higher honor than supporting them as they grow,” said Lauren. “I’m so lucky every day to work with my wonderful team.”
