Program Facilitator

Status: Part-time, hourly, (weekend availability required, summer availability preferred).

Position open until filled.

Reports to: Director of Education & Guest Experience

Job Summary:

In alignment with the Museum’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan, the Program Facilitator will assist in the implementation of educational programming that is welcoming and accessible to all. All employees of CMSD are responsible for supporting CMSD’s goal to become a recognized leader in the children’s museum industry.

Essential Functions:  Working with the Director of Education and Museum Educator, the Program Facilitator’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare and facilitate a wide variety of educational programming opportunities in the areas of arts and sciences to museum guests and groups in programming spaces, museum exhibits and on the museum floor
  • Develop a firm understanding of all museum program offerings and inform guests, staff, and volunteers as needed
  • Prepare and facilitate children’s birthday parties with enthusiasm and energy
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming museum environment
  • Communicate with guests before, during, and after program offerings to ensure their needs are met and expectations exceeded
  • Support and guide volunteers, museum staff, and interns during program offerings
  • Assist with preparation and implementation of educational activities for museum events and outreach

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Post-secondary education preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience engaging children in play-based learning opportunities
  • Experience teaching children while using a variety of mediums
  • Able to stand, bend, climb, and/or walk for a prolonged period of time
  • High comfort level working with children in a fast paced, high traffic, public environment
  • Views children as capable and competent and recognizes that children naturally learn through play
  • Communicates effectively and interacts genuinely with families of all backgrounds and abilities
  • Works independently or cooperatively as a team
  • A strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of CMSD
  • Must be reliable and flexible
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize work flow
