Introducing Kidoodle Council, a Youth Advisory Board
Created with the belief of the strong image of the child and that children should have a voice in their learning experiences, the Children’s Museum of South Dakota is introducing a youth advisory board. Kidoodle Council, a group for children ages 6-12, will be an important piece in the museum's mission to spark imagination and learning for all.
Among their duties, members of the Kidoodle Council will be ambassadors for the museum in the community, generate ideas for programs and exhibits, and provide feedback to museum staff guiding direction in future operations.
What is the application process?
Starting Sept. 6, 2018, applications will be available via our website or by calling (605) 692-6700.
Space in the Kidoodle Council is limited. Applications are due by Nov. 1, 2018, and applicants will be notified of their selection status by Dec. 1, 2018. If accommodations for the application process or for involvement in the program are requested, please contact Mike at email@example.com or 605-692-6700.
What is the time commitment?
Members of the Kidoodle Council will meet 9 times throughout the year on Saturday mornings and will participate in 3 additional volunteer opportunities such as assisting at special events or writing book reviews. The scheduled meeting times are listed on the Kidoodle Council Application.
Who can participate?
Applicants must be 6-12 years old and commit to at least 7 or the 9 scheduled meetings throughout the year. Council members also commit to participating in 3 volunteer opportunities during the program year.
Wait, who is Kidoodle?
Did you know that Kidoodle, the museum’s mascot, was born thanks to the imagination of children? Kidoodle’s name, colors, and fun personality are the direct result of the ideas of children. The staff and board of the Children’s Museum of South Dakota are excited to embark on this intentional effort to lean on the talent and expertise of youth through Kidoodle Council.
