SUMMARY:Powers of Play
DESCRIPTION:In honor of play therapy week\, Brooke Rustman will be playing with us in our first-floor art studio! Brooke provides play therapy services at Rising Hope Counseling\, LLC in Brookings\, and has experience with a variety of children and families working toward stronger emotional wellness.  Join her to learn more about play therapy and create yourself as a superhero! \nThrough play\, children communicate their thoughts\, feelings\, and needs. Play therapy encourages open communication\, expressing themselves\, learning about themselves and their world\, promotes emotional wellbeing\, models emotional regulation\, enhances social relationships\, builds empathy\, increases self-esteem\, promotes resiliency\, and encourages creative problem solving. \n“In play therapy toys are viewed as the child’s words and play as the child’s language”. – Garry Landreth
