Being a member of the Children’s Museum of South Dakota just got even better. In addition to free admission all year, starting March 1 members of the museum can take advantage of special member-only hours.

Members can play in the museum one hour before it is open to the public on Saturday mornings from 9-10 a.m. They also are invited to take part in themed evenings at the museum on the first Thursday of each month from 5-7 p.m.

When you are a member of the museum, you are part of our community.

The First Thursday member events will feature a new theme each month such as Family Game Night in March, Bubble Bash in July, and Giving Back in December. Café Coteau will be open until 6:30 p.m. on First Thursdays serving a different family-style feature each month. Families are invited to skip cooking and dishes and spend the evening together playing.

Another new benefit to membership includes two one-day guest passes to share with family and friends. Starting March 1, 2018,  all new memberships and membership renewals will include the guest passes.

“When you are a member of the museum, you are part of our community. To us, giving back to those who support us through membership is important,” says Mari von Fischer, membership coordinator. “We feel the added hours will help families be able to spend even more quality time together playing and learning.”

Other benefits of membership include:

  • 10% discount on all purchases at the Play Central Toys & Books, the museum gift shop
  • 20% discount on programming and birthday parties
  • Subscription to the museum e-newsletter
  • Access to exclusive member events

Memberships are available for families or grandparents. For those who find the price of admission or membership to be a burden, the Access Initiative Membership offers an opportunity for families who are receiving some form of public income-related assistance.

Spend even more quality time as a family playing and learning.
