Children’s Museum Takes Part in National Campaign

Mama was ready for her close-up, as crews filmed her and other parts of The Children’s Museum of South Dakota this week for inclusion in South Dakota tourism ads.

The “Great Faces, Great Places” ongoing campaign traditionally features sites such as Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and other West River areas. However, this year the campaign is broadening to include a few select locations in Eastern South Dakota.

“It’s an honor to have our museum chosen by film crews, the ad agency, and the state’s Department of Tourism as a destination location,” Director of Marketing Randy Grimsley said. “We hope this continued recognition encourages people from across our region to visit our community to see the wonderful things we have to offer.”

The current ad campaign features a family of five and their reactions and interactions with all South Dakota has to offer as they travel the state. Several families from the Brookings community acted as extras as well.

The campaign will offer television, digital and print exposure over the course of the next year and beyond. The majority of appearances will occur outside of the state, as a promotion for visitors to check out all offered throughout South Dakota.
