JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Group Reservation Coordinator

Status:  Full time. Some weekend availability required. Position opened until filled.

Reports to:  Director of Guest Services

Job Summary In alignment with the Museum’s mission, vision, values and strategic plan, the Group Reservation Coordinator will manage group reservations, ensure a positive guest experience, and promote volunteer engagement. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy, well-organized, creative and detail-orientated individual who enjoys working in a playful, team-orientated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests and respond effectively to their needs
    • Process daily admissions, membership sales and gift shop purchases
    • Enter data into museum database
    • Follow cash handling procedures
    • Assist with museum opening and closing procedures
  • Coordinate group reservations including field trips, facility rentals, and special events
    • Serve as liaison between museum and group while scheduling and implementing field trips
    • Serve as liaison between museum and facility renter while managing and communicating contract details
    • Maintain reservations in museum database
    • Work closely with other museum team members to plan and implement group reservations
    • Manage available resources to effectively carry out group reservations
    • Provide follow-up as needed to ensure group reservation is successfully implemented
  • Coordinate volunteer engagement
    • Develop and implement creative methods to engage, recruit, retain and recognize volunteers
    • Coordinate orientation, training, schedule and evaluation of all volunteers
    • Collaborate with museum team members to understand volunteer needs
  • Provide staff supervision and manage daily schedules for members of the floor staff in the absence of the Director of Guest Services and Membership Coordinator
  • Assist Director of Guest Services as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Two years of experience in supervision preferred
  • Experience working in a fast paced, high traffic, public environment
  • Exhibits excellent customer service skills
  • Understands point of sale programs and basic computer including Microsoft Office
  • Exhibits organizational, collaborative and problem solving skills
  • Shows initiative and ability to meet deadlines with attention to details
  • Communicates effectively and interacts genuinely with people of all backgrounds and abilities
  • Readiness to respond to guests needs/ emergency situations in a calm and comforting manner
  • Works independently or cooperatively as a team
  • Shows commitment to the mission, vision and values of CMSD

Position: Food Service Employee

Status: Part-time (weekend availability required). Position opened until filled. EOE

Reports to: Café Coteau Manager

Job Summary: In alignment with the Museum’s mission, vision, and values, Café Coteau food service employees assist in all aspects of the daily operations including food preparation and clean-up, cooking, and customer service. The ideal candidate is passionate about food and customer service and enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and serve a variety of foods according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures.
  • Clean and sanitize dining and work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware according to health and safety standards.
  • Receive and store food supplies, equipment, and utensils in refrigerators, cupboards, and other storage areas.
  • Create a positive guest experience by delivering a high level of customer service
  • Assist customers using the point of sale computer system to ensure cash management is done efficiently and accurately
  • Inform supervisors when equipment is not working properly and when food and supplies are getting low
  • Assist in any area of the café when staffing constraints require


Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Previous experience in restaurant or hospitality service preferred
  • Exhibits effective communication skills
  • Able to take direction effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Able to use touch-sensitive POS system
  • Interacts easily and happily with children, their grown-ups and staff
  • Able to perform physical activities that require your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
