About

Our
Facilities

No matter what your age or your interest, we offer top-of-class facilities for every occasion.

It's easy being green.

The Children’s Museum of South Dakota believes it’s important to be good stewards of the environment. CMSD has created an environmentally friendly facility and is currently seeking a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Part of these efforts include restoring the windows original to the 1936 building design and using recycled materials within the design of the facility. Many of the benches found within the museum have been constructed from the gym bleachers of the facility’s previous life. The bleacher wood has found many new uses in our museum adorning exhibit areas and completing the second floor balcony railing. Check out the signage around the museum for more information.
